Audience Feedback

Analysis Of Results:

 Part 1-Film Trailer:

Looking at the graph above, the three genres which the people in my sample who answered the questionnaire felt best best classified our film trailer were, romance, tragedy and psycholoical thriller. Taking into account that our chosen genre for our media product a hybrid genre made up of the genres, romance, tragedy and psychological thriller. This therefore shows me that our in depth research on common media conventions and themes associated with these genre, enabled us to effectively create a successful film trailer which fulfills its purpose.

You can clearly see from the graph above that there is a 100% consensus across the people in my sample who answered my questionnaire, that we maintained a steady, professional use of a digital camcorder.
The film industry is extremely competitive and in order for our media product to compare and compete against other existing media products in the industry we needed our film trailer to look as professional as possible. The outcome of this question has informed me that our audiences feels that we have met this level of professionalism, meaning our film trailer is a success.

Music is a form of media that can influence how an audience feels, playing with their emotions and portraying different messages and feelings. So it was obvious to my group that a soundtrack would definitely contribute to creating atmosphere and tension in our film trailer, making it more successful. This is reflected in the outcome of results shown in the above graph.

This was an open ended question, below are some of the replies that I recieved:
"I thought your film trailer was exceptionally good, however i do feel that maybe you could have experiemented with different types of fades or special effects to help protray to the audience that the film trailer wasnt in real time, for example during the flashback."

"I loved the way in which your film trailer shows the main female character trying to kill herself in more than one way, this has made me curious as to what actually happens to this character, making me want to know more and go see the film."

"I didnt like how the focus of the film trailer was on the female character, it would have been nice to see more of the male character."

"I absoloutely loved your film trailer, there isnt one aspect of it that i would change. You both did a great job."
The majority of the feedback was extremely positive informing me that we achieved all of the goals we had set ourselves in order to produce a successful film trailer.
We did however receive some positive criticism, which i have took into account, and feel as though i understand how I could improve our film trailer further if I had the chance to remake it. Some of the criticism I received about our film trailer was:
  • Not enough inclusion of the male character,
  • Needed to experiment with different fades and special effects to enhance our portrayal that during specific points of our film trailer it wasn't in real time, for example during our flashback sequence.

In respond to this feedback I would change our film trailer by filming more footage containing the male actor to use in our media product, making our film trailer less focused around the female character.  Furthermore i would experiment with different fades and effects to enhance our portrayal that during specific points of our film trailer it wasn't in real time.

For this question I used a 'rating scale' which enabled the people in my sample who answered my questionnaire to rate how authentic they thought our film trailer was. The options from which they could choose are as follows: awful, not very authentic, authentic, very authentic, amazing. The results to this question are in the above table.

67% of the people in my sample thought that our film trailer was 'very authentic' with another 13% thinking our film trailer was 'amazing.' Looking at the results I am extremely pleased to see that our audience feels as though our film trailer is good enough to be compared to existing media products, informing me that the film trailer which we produced is a huge success.

You can clearly see from the graph above that there is a 100% consensus across the people in my sample who answered my questionnaire, that they would go see our film after watching the film trailer. This therefore informs me that our film trailer advertises our film extremely well, meeting its purpose and making it a success.
Part 2-Film Poster:

This was another open ended question, below are some of the replies that I received:
"I think that the proximity between the two characters, and the way the male is kissing the females neck deffinitely represents the theme of love in the storyline."
"I connoate words such as love and danger with the colour red, therefore as this colour is used for the titles i think that both love and danger may be themes present in the storyline of the film."
"The use of black font indicates death, which i feel is a theme that is present within the film."
"I love the way the female is looking directly at the camera lense with a blank expression. This suggested to me that something wasn't quite right between the two characters. I think this could be associated with themes of tragedy in the storyline, this is further enhanced by the tears coming from the female."
After analysing the feetback which i received from this question, i can conclude that the poster was partly a success in reflecting the thtmes present in the storyline of our film. I say partly because the audience were able to identify that love, death, and tragedy are themes present in the stroyline of our film, reflecting the romance and tragedy aspects of our films hybrid genre. However no one from the people in my sample who answered this question mentioned a theme that would be relation to the psychological thriller aspect of our genre.
In respond to this feedback the changes i would make to our film poster so that our audience would be able to identify themes which reflected the psychological thriller aspect of our genre if we had the chance to remake it, would be to make the male character transparent, so that he would appear as a ghost. This therefore would make audience think that the female character coulding distinguish what was real and what wasn't, messing with the audiences mind, and therefore relfecting the psychological thriller aspect of our films genre.

You can clearly see from the graph above that there is a 100% consensus across the people in my sample who answered my questionnaire, that they feel our film poster reflects our films genre. This therefore informs me that our film poster advertises our film extremely well, meeting its purpose and making it a success.

For this question I used a 'rating scale' which enabled the people in my sample who answered my questionnaire to rate how authentic they thought our film poster was. The options from which they could choose are as follows: awful, not very authentic, authentic, very authentic, amazing. The results to this question are in the above table.

72% of the people in my sample thought that our film poster was 'very authentic' with another 17% thinking our film poster was 'amazing.' Looking at the results I am extremely pleased to see that our audience feels as though our film poster is good enough to be compared to existing media products, informing me that the film poster which we produced is a huge success.

You can clearly see from the graph above that 87% of the people in my sample who answered my questionnaire, that they would go see our film after looking at our film poster. This therefore informs me that, even though our film poster didn't have the same success as our film trailer, our film poster still advertises our film extremely well due to the majority of the people in my sample who answered my questionnaire choosing 'yes,' therefore our film poster does meet its purpose, making it a success.

Part 3-Film Magazine Front Cover:

I received 100% 'Yes' across the people in my sample who answered my questionnaire, that they think the imagery used on the front cover of my film magazine advertisies the film successfully. This therefore suggests that my film magazine front cover meets its purpose, making it the design a success.

This question I used a 'rating scale' which enabled the people in my sample who answered my questionnaire to rate how authentic they thought my film magazine front cover was; the options from which they could choose. The results to this question are in the above table.

A staggering 57% of the people in my sample thought that my film magazine front cover was 'amazing' with the rest answering 43% thinking my film magazine front cover was 'very authentic.' Looking at the results I am extremely pleased to see that our audience feels as though my film magazine front cover is more than good enough to be compared to existing media products. This informs me that the film magazine front cover is a success.

You can clearly see from the graph above that there is a 100% consensus across the people in my sample who answered my questionnaire, that they would buy this film magazine after seeing the front cover. This therefore informs me that my film magazine front cover not only advertises our film extremely well, but attracts our audience to buy the film magazine my front cover is showcased on, meeting its purpose and making it a success.

Conclusion:

Overall after analysing my audience feedback questionnaire I have come to the conclusion that we both in a group and myself individually achieved all of our set goals and produced a successful promotional package which can be compared and compete against existing media products.
